چکیده

Aim: The research aimed to study and model the emotion-related activity of functional networks within human brain cortex using power spectrum density detrended phase transfer entropy methods. Attention was focused on revealing alterations in cognitive mechanisms, caused by presentation neutral faces as rare stimuli among with either negative or positive expression. Methods: EEG-data recorded during perception processing facial expressions, presented two series images, alongside resting state open closed eyes, which further analyzed Results: Specific EEG-bands (θ β) were chosen for analysis based their prominent role memory- mechanisms. topography spectral corresponded generally accepted ideas describing visual method not sufficient analyze data. results performed revealed problems differentiation when a emotional context. Simultaneously, enhanced processes motivational coding self-reflection observed These data obtained our previous ERP-based study. Conclusions: Phase have demonstrated effectiveness analyzing mechanisms mediated different cortical areas.

Effective connectivity within the distributed cortical network for face perception.

Face perception elicits activation within a distributed cortical network in the human brain. The network includes visual ("core") regions, as well as limbic and prefrontal ("extended") regions, which process invariant facial features and changeable aspects of faces, respectively. We used functional Magnetic Resonance Imaging and Dynamic Causal Modeling to investigate effective connectivity and ...

Face perception is mediated by a distributed cortical network.

The neural system associated with face perception in the human brain was investigated using functional magnetic resonance imaging (fMRI). In contrast to many studies that focused on discreet face-responsive regions, the objective of the current study was to demonstrate that regardless of stimulus format, emotional valence, or task demands, face perception evokes activation in a distributed cort...

Afterimage induced neural activity during emotional face perception.

The N170 response differs when positive versus negative facial expressions are viewed. This neural response could be associated with the perception of emotions, or some feature of the stimulus. We used an aftereffect paradigm to clarify. Consistent with previous reports of emotional aftereffects, a neutral face was more likely to be described as happy following a sad face adaptation, and more l...

Emotional perception: correspondence of early and late event-related potentials with cortical and subcortical functional MRI.

This research examines the relationship between brain activity recorded with functional magnetic resonance imaging (fMRI) and event related potentials (ERP) as these responses varied over a series of emotionally evocative and neutral pictures. We investigate the relationship of early occipitotemporal and later centroparietal emotion-modulated ERPs in one sample to fMRI estimates of neural activ...
